BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH (As of April 2025)

Dr Papavasiliou graduated from the University of Athens Medical School.
She trained in Paediatrics (Mount Zion Hospital, CA, USA) and in Neurology with Special Competence in Child Neurology (Wayne State University School of Medicine, MI, USA). She completed a Research Fellowship in the Neurophysiology of Neuropsychiatric Disorders at the Lafayette Clinic Research Institute in Michigan USA.
She was appointed Assistant Professor in Child Neurology (1990, University of Crete, Greece), a post given up to serve the newly established Greek NHS (Head of Department of Paediatric Neurology, Pendeli Children’s Hospital, Athens, 1990-2017). Since 2017 she is Head Paediatric Neurologist at IASO Children’s Hospital in Athens.
Founding member of the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Neurology, member of the Board and past President. Founding member and past board member of the Hellenic Society of Hypnology.
Leader of the Attica Cerebral Palsy Registry (Athens Metropolitan area) and member of the SCPE group since 2014.
Author of over 90 original papers in international peer-reviewed journals and several articles and book chapters in Greek. Editor of Greek medical books and information pamphlets for parents of children with neurological and neurodevelopmental problems.
